        It happens all year long, but particularly during the Christmas season. You are home with your woman and/or women in your family. They are laughing and talking while the Hallmark channel shows an endless supply of romance movies.      There are different actors, but the themes are so tired. Is the leading lady's family selling the family business? Is her potential love interest secretly (or not so secretly) wealthy? Are they going to a festival? Do they have to compete against each other? Does she see him hugging another woman and get the wrong idea? I could go on, but I am convinced that these are being auto written by a computer.      It doesn't matter, the ladies eat it up. They watch each and every one as if they haven't seen the same story over and over. Then I thought, what if the Hallmark channel was written for men? My brother piped up and said, "that would be called porn". I disagree, men like romance too, but definitely...

       This is loosely a music blog and it would be irresponsible for me not to discuss holiday music. There is so much of it that many radio stations in the US play nothing but holiday music from American Thanksgiving through Christmas.      Cold weather makes people want to get closer. You can check the research on that, but I'm pretty sure it's true. :-) It doesn't matter if it's 2018 or 1944 when Baby it's Cold Outside was written. A radio station has banned that song because the guy is really pushy. Ok, I did use to call it that rapey holiday song. I've heard the argument that that was a simpler time and he had no intentions. Ha, come on now, a man in 1944 would totally have been on Tinder in 2018 looking for a FWB. I hate censorship so listen to the song and make up your own mind.        I spend a lot of time on here writing serious stuff. This post is just for fun. One genre of music that I have not posted much on here is comedy. I love Weird Al, Flight of the Conchords, and many other comedy bands. I also adore cover songs and most recently was delighted by Fitz and the Tantrums doing Sweet Dreams in concert at Red Rocks.   Let's go back to 2006 for a few minutes. There was the Sago Mine disaster. Saddam Hussein was found guilty of crimes against humanity. Steve Irwin died by a stingray. My Millennial friends and lovers were all in high school 🤣. Also, Rob Paravonian posted his Pachelbel Rant. Pachelbel has a lovely canon, why should there be a rant?      I am the last person to criticize musicians for sampling. In Rap and Industrial music, it is done frequently. EDM, it can be argued, is a genre based on mixing and sampling. It can even be great in rock. Fall Out Boy, I truly love your use of sampling.   My first concert was Journey. I was forever hooked as Steve Perry's voice floated above the crowd telling us to Don't Stop Believing. Concerts have remained a part of my life over the years. I love the energy of the crowd, the lights, and the feel of the beat rushing through my chest. It is in some way a meditative experience as the music moves through me, healing body and mind.     I listen to many genres of music. Every song tells a story and every type of music tells the story differently. It can be soft or aggressive, but it is one of the most magnificent forms of human expression. I often wonder what it would be like to see the things that I write set to music. I love how music evolves and is recreated for every generation. When I went to Journey I was probably one of the youngest people there.     Now when I attend concerts, I am often the OPITR (oldest person in the room).   😜 This last weekend I attended 3 concerts.
